They'd steal from their "best friend" and not care. It doesn't matter or even register sometimes the way their actions hurt people. All that matters is meeting their own needs at any cost. |

It won't mean that they are doing it because they actually have empathy and respect. They will be doing it simply out of self-preservation. Not to mention, it might teach them the lesson that if they themselves acquire authority and at least appear to abide by certain rules, they can be more successful predators that way. |

I think its a factor of covert narcissists being harder to diagnose, and the fact narcissists in general usually do not seek treatment so actual diagnosis rates are lower than the prevalence.
