unlike fission, it is completely legal to build your own fusor in the garage, this is due to the lack of radioactive material.
Take lessons from David Hahn, don't want the FBI & NRC knocking down your door & the EPA designating your house as a Superfund site.
fusion is better than fission imo, leave fission to the big boys.
Although if you want to shoot your shot at actually making a real fusion reactor that makes more energy than was put in, there will be some legal issues, this is due to tritium which is radioactive.
D-T fusion chemistry is the most energetic, at 17.6 MeV.
Tritium can be produced inside the reactor from lithium-6 in special breeder ceramics using neutrons produced from D-D fusion.
make sure to add proper shielding to stop all stray neutrons coming from the fusion reaction.
as for how the energy is collected, i think electromagnetic is better than steam turbine, although both should be used, because there will still be waste heat that can be turned into energy. i got the idea from Helion, use the expanding fusion plasma to induce a current in a coil outside the reactor, which is fed into a large capacitor bank to capture it quickly.
