Yesterday was a Diner breakfast run. A place called the Falcon.

Open 24/7 for the 1st time since Covid facked up Jersey's diner game.

I had a short stack of French toast, scrambled eggs and bacon well done. Raspberry iced tea and coffee.

Depsite having had so much frozen pizza in the last year. I am very stoked to have double checked that I do indead have one. I also wanted ice cream (it's one of those days) and yup, I have a pizza, and holy s**t, it turns out I have ice cream too. No grocery store for me today, and no more ordering spinach artichoke dip because I'm broke atm. I haven't been home in a few days, amd I'm so happy to have something here rn.

Honestly if I am in a bad mood my go to food is Thai and Vietnamese. Sometimes Mexican as well, but not as often.

Everything Trish said about Thai food made me want Thai really bad, but my desire and gratitude to be home outweighed it, that and needing to buckle down on the finances, lol. I've been wanting Indian food for 3 years though. There's a really good Spicy yellow curry chicken pad Thai near me from a Vietnamese place. I like it extra spicy, like, not white people Spicy.

We got some okay Indian places where I live, but I'm just tryna have my coworkers cook me that real s**t

Dr. Sus

Funny you say that, the only time I've had Indian food, outside of a restaurant, it was cooked by a friend's coworker who's in the same line of work as you.

Are there not people who are actually from India cooking the Indian food in restaurants where you live?

WalterLuigi

Aug 11, 2025 05:52

Oh no, it's all people actually from India. And I like it well enough, but what I've had coworkers make was usually better.

Used to have this one coworker with a samosa recipe I've never had rivaled. My direct boss is vegan though, and I'm not huge on vegan food. The others aren't though. Had some at stalls during Holi at the local temple too. It was damn good, but the dull down the spice a lot.

Hell yeah, that sounds fire... the stuff my coworkers friend made was spicy af, I hadn't been broken in on handling spicy yet, plus I was crazy hungover, so I think that had something to do with it. Or my d**kwad friend played a joke on me and made mine spicy af, I could see him doing that. Either way, I can handle it better now. And I feel like home cooked is almost always better, very few restaurants or any kind seem to be doing everything from scratch.

I make a mean chicken Tikka masala, minus the actual masala spice, because I didn't live near a market at the time. But technically Tikka masala is bastardized Indian food, by the British. Kinda like how we took authentic Mexican and turned into Tex Mex. I'd post the pics, but no. Lol.

WalterLuigi

Same goes for vindaloo. It's been crazy bastardized by the British. Damn is it good though. The potatoes and extra spice really make it imo

Dr. Sus

Aug 11, 2025 15:57

Ooooo, idk if I've ever had vindaloo, but I love me some potatoes.

It's hot over here , I can't do spicy I'm a wimp.
My butthole can't handle it.

Wish you and neon would come over ,it'll be fun

WalterLuigi

Vindaloo is my favorite. It's considered the spiciest dish in most Indian restaurants in the west. In India there aren't potatoes in it and it's not as spicy though. Very good stuff. It's one of my go tos. Although pretty much anything tandoori is good too

Dr. Sus

Aug 11, 2025 18:28

Yeah, Tandoori chicken is bomb. I usually go with chicken dishes because, idk, I hate to say it, but I'd how much I trust the other meat, but that's true for all kinds of restaurants. They do a lot of vegetarian dishes at the last place I went, and I'm guessing that's true of a lot of places. Does Vindaloo usually have meat or do they make it all kinds of ways?

I tried Tandoori chicken and 2 diff peanut chicken dishes that tasted the same.It wasn't that spicey.

Dr. Sus

A lot of ethnic food that is spicy another countries is toned down so much for American pussies. I always tell them extra spicy because I'm not as white as I look.

emperorroberto

Aug 12, 2025 10:05

Yeah,I got the spiciest one and while it was spicey,I mean it wasn't like spicier.

WalterLuigi

Aug 18, 2025 15:29

Vindaloo can be all types of ways. It can be vegetable only or many varieties of meat. I just usually like it with lamb.

The one good thing about working at a restaurant is you get a free meal everyday. So if your tight on money or broke, at least you get a 3000 calorie meal. Sometimes that will be the only meal I eat.
