No America does not own it now. Most likely you can expect united states to attempt to run their government leading to an election with the choices being options selected by CIA making it not matter who gets in. A traditional regime change based on the history of how the CIA conducts business

Decent amount of oil in fairness. If you are going to take over a country thats the one to do it. It will be interesting to see what the drug cartels will do. And I see trump has threatened the leader of Columbia too and theres been more comments about Greenland again.

Out of interest from the Americans on here, how has the news went down in the US. Are most poeple in support of it?

I think most people here think it sets a dangerous precidence if you can just go and in and abduct the leader of a foreign country. Our government hasn't condemned it though and said they "won't lose sleep" over it.

I saw a video that had Venezuelan public interviews saying they were glad of the bombing as their leader is a tyrant.

Elsewhere I heard they were supplying Russia with oil, which explains why Putin has "condemned" these US actions.

To be fair this isn't a first for the US, support is fairly split mostly along party lines with some from each side disagreeing with fellow party supporters.
