Do you put yourself before others or do you put others first?

Sure. Consciousness is inherently selfish; i.e. selflessness is a convenient myth lol. But practically speaking, if I respect someone, I tend to go for whatever’s best for both of us more often than not.

It depends. I agree with exo, how, consciousness of the fact that we're inherently selfish creatures also allows us to act against that selfishness. I respect anyone respecting me, and I'd say I'm more selfless in public than your average man, until people start acting like d**ks, then I dont give a f**k. I'd say I'm pretty damn giving to those I know and love, but there's a balance, I matter too.

I'm what most would consider an asshole on the road though, very offensive driver... but that's mostly because people don't know how to f**king drive. I'm a beast on the road.

I operate as a unit already. Thinking for two is hard and draining. Also makes you go back to default human interactions.

@exo explain what you mean by selflessness is a convenient myth?
You ever truly loved someone?

I'm not going to speak for Exo (funny, I used to go by a similar name here, years ago) but my interpretation of that is, people use good deeds they do, to tell themselves that they're a good person, so it turns right back into a self serving action. People don't do good s**t for others, they do it for themselves.

Sus did I ask you? I do understand the general idea, I just wanted to know his take on it.
I know you are selfish bastardo, I love you anyway.
You promised me Kill Tony watch!
Wanna watch the New Year one?

Furthermore, they might even do said "good deed" to justify something bad they did. I'm sure it could think of more, but that's what came to mind.

I've been thinking about intentions lately. Think about it... intentions are kinda... everything. Someone can do something bad, or good, and depending on their intentions, it can flip around whether or not it was a positive action.

Ex. Good deed, someone volunteers at a shelter... but they do it because their hot friend works there and they want to f**k them.

And the classic, bad deed, someone steals a loaf of bread, but they do it feed a starving child they saw on the side of the road, one they don't even know (double nicety).

I challenge you all to think of your true motivation and intentions behind everything you've ever done, and will do.

You should throw an emoji on that s**t then 😂. You started off that statement with "did I ask you" when I clearly stated I wasn't speaking for him, lolz.

Neurologically speaking… And maybe I’m splitting hairs, since our consciousness is where we live day to day, but it is what it is. Uhoh, Love came up. Not sure i want to go there 😆

Ngl, very similar to the doc day to day. I just bought a neighborhood homeless dude a coffee a sec ago bc i like him personally - but yea, i did it bc it was pleasant for *me*.

Here’s a clip that’s loosely related: https://www.instagram.com/p/CLoA89OnJJe/?igsh=MWR0dTZoeDkzbGNqOA==

Ohhhhh it's all good. Also, that love comment could very well be someone who's blocked me, so idk if that was in reference to me.

But anyways, yeah, it's really hard to do something selfless without questioning who it's really for. I just try to look at it as a win win, everyone gets something, and that, in itself, is also fulfilling.

I think there can be other benefits to some selfless deeds thar aren't just self satisfaction, so that teeters a little more towards selfless.
