Difference between Cyber Punk and Cyber Goth?

Difference between Cyber Punk and Cyber Goth?

These two have kind of got my head spinning in circles as to what the difference is. I think in movie terms Cyber Goth is The Matrix and Cyberpunk is neon, facemasks and goggles. Am I correct in this? and what kind of ideals and characteristics do the two kind of embody overall? Well versed in the Matrix thematic but that can't be all there is to the genre...

Cyber goth is more raver dance music illuminescent gothwear, and cyberpunk is made up from sci fi movies to do with stereotypical street punks with high tech gear.

Ok... then what does The Matrix films fall under? I heard the term Classic Cybergoth mentioned on one site once but that's about it

cyberpunk is more of something that came from novels, such as neuromancer, which is apparently credited for being the first to have penned the term cyberpunk.

and then matrix copied off neuromancer. matrix is cyberpunk style .....its just they make the chars dress gothy

cyberpunk is basically sci fi, techy type novel. usually a dystopian future where mega corps rule the planet and hackers are the main characters.

cyber goth..... well, that's a newer thing in timeline, and they dress in neon and listen to electronic dance music.... yes.... dance music... electronic.... so they are basically people who say they are goths, but like dance night club chav music like wigan pier! lmao ....basically just fancy chavs.

huh. I always thought the electronic dance music stuff was punk. I might have to look for and read neuromancer. Sounds like a good book. Thought Cybergoth was the realm of Matrix and Deus Ex? oh well. good to know for certain what the real differences are. A fair few sites seemed to use goth and punk in the cyber genre interchangeably, so it was quite confusing.

Sounds like a bunch of Morons that don't actually know what they're talking about and haven't bothered to.

I think anyone who gives this more thought than how bad their own farts smell needs to sort their priorities out.

deus ex is 100% cyberpunk .....although matrix can get the goth credit as it did steal some gothy stuff, and even included vampires to further empathise that. but still counted as cyber punk due to it ripping off neuromancer, which is the father of cyberpunk, and having the hacker theme.

augmentations and modifying body with tech is also part of cyberpunk genre. minority report is considered cyber punk, and a lot of other films with androids, augmentations and stuff.

Cyberpunk is a genre of fiction, cybergoth is part of a subculture.
