Most messed up/disturbing movies....

Most messed up/disturbing movies....

99% of the movies that exist today don't really possess any ability with its content to offend or disturb me. However; every once in a while one will come along that really pushes the envelope and attempts to stretch my tolerance capacity. What are 5 of the movies that you've seen that really disturbed you or at least made it challenging to watch until the end? for me it is 1)A Serbian Film. 2)August Underground's Mordum. 3)Slaughtered Vomit Dolls. 4)Snuff 102. and 5)The Human Centipede 2.

I've not seen the first four movies that you listed. Thank you I have some viewing to do.

You should look up The House That Jack Built(2018), and Creep(2014). THTJB has more of an art-film vibe and might be the most f**ked up movie I've seen in 10 years. Creep is filmed in the style of found footage, also top tier if you like those kinds of flicks

House that Jack built is pretty funny. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be dark humour or unintentional.

The great ecstasy of Robert Carmichael was fairly unpleasant and eden lake had a fairly bitter taste by the end, no redeeming features. More on the grim side rather than grotesque.

Ahh, the ones on my list have been said already. There's one that's no so much disturbing as weird-as-f**k, called Dogtooth. It's Greek so it's subtitled, but if that doesn't bother you I guess it's worth the watch.

The Voices is another, not so much that it's mind bending, but the jarring contrast between dark and comedy made for an interesting watch in my opinion.

I've seen only two of the movies you listed. A Siberian film wasn't disturbing for me. The human centipede was disturbing as f**k.
I love gore films.
I'd recommend the hostel , wrong turn and saw series for gore.
For just really messed up plots I'd recommend shutter island and rest stop.
For an interesting foreign horror movie I'd recommend devil's backbone its in Spanish and its one of my favorite movies of all time.
I've yet to find a movie disturbing enough that I couldn't finish it.

Ooh I just remembered another really good one
Overlord (2018)

🤣^

@Tommeh247, The Voices was my 1st thought when reading this post. Reynolds surprised me with how well he executed the bizarre darkness.

The voices is great, but I told a guy at work it's a comedy maybe even a bit of a rom-com and when he watched it he thought it was too dark like "I thought you said it was a comedy". I cant tell if he's just not used to that sort of thing or whether I've become too warped to recognize "dark" films.

The 2 Nekromantik films deserve a mention, not seen for yeeeeaaars though so might be a little tame by todays standards?

Hereditary, and Cannibal Holocaust.

The man who produced Cannibal Holocaust even had every actor, that died on screen, sign a waiver to disappear for a year, so that it'd seem like everyone that died in the movie, were dead in real life.

My..my... good suggestions all of you!! Okay..first, Zed...i have seen the two Nekromantik movies and they totally deserve the mention. Middle-finger, i have seen Cannibal Holocaust, but not Hereditary, so i will check it out. Migi, i have not seen Overlord but i will watch. I agree with you, Human Centipede is far worse than Serbian Film. Everyone targets Serbian Film for the baby scene, but the baby scene on the second Human Centipede puts it in the cinematic innocence hall of fame(well, maybe not innocent but you know what i mean). Human Centipede 2 was just disgusting to the point where i almost looked away when it came to the laxative scene.
AND FINALLY, here are a few more titles for all you sickening, black hearted horror/gore/otherwise effed up movie lovers...
*Grotesque
*Headless
*August Underground's Penance
*Martyrs
*Maskhead
*Irréversible (my personal favorite, but disturbed me to the point where i spent the following day very depressed and didn't sleep).
*Breaking Her Will
*Men Behind The Sun
*The Bunny Game
*Visitor Q.
ANYMORE SUGGESTIONS, keep 'em coming!!!!!!!

I remember a French film called Frontiers, think it was about neo nazis running an inn, with some cannibalism thrown in.

Patiently awaiting Danzig's directorial debut with "Verotika".

If you're into anime and don't mind subtitles, watch Midori: Shoujo Tsubaki. Thank me later. Probably one of the most f**ked up things I have ever seen which is saying something. It was banned in Japan, which is REALLY saying something. 12 minutes from the original film were cut after the original screening and were never seen again. Once you watch the movie, to think that there was even more acutely messed up stuff is a mind boggler. All copies of the film were burned, and it wasn't until the digital release in 2012 that it really gained widespread attention. It literally just got taken off of YouTube the other month so I wish you luck finding it! shouldn't be too hard.

In Cannibal Holocaust, when they kill the turtle, is surely one of the most messed up things of all time in mainstream media. It is 100% authentic as well as the rest of all the animal killings.

Jan 17, 2020 21:26

Wait, they made a 2nd "human centipede" movie? That's disturbing.... But hey, they made like 8 "Sharknado" movies...

I'm not sure in Mother! fits the narrative mould for this thread but by the 3rd act and end of the film I was left with a "what did I just watch" ending. In fact, when it goes crazy later on I was at "what am I watching".
