Strange fascinations

Strange fascinations

Anyone find that certain things become almost obsessions? Was contemplating this after saying I love the labyrinthian nature of IKEAs. As a kid I used to draw mazes, loved the myth of the minotaur, I love going through corn mazes, I like movies about mazes (Labyrinth for example, and the maze scenes from the fourth Harry Potter) and maze/maze adjacent games like Ilomilo. It's a more broad thing too. I love liminal spaces. I like to photograph them.

Got a strange love? Share below. What is the psychology of it?

I've built a lego maze today! That's a cool quirk
Have you seen "Pan's Labyrinth"?

I do like mazes as well. Hellraiser 2's version of hell I find eerily comfortable. Like it's just giant pillars that somehow house the cenobites. Also love making dungeons for 1974 and Holmes basic version of D&D that I host. My new dungeon has a minotaur in it, in one of the hidden rooms that house 60k gold. If the players find the hidden switch on the stone walls, it'll lower the stairs to one of the entrances releasing the minotaur into the labyrinth.

This version of the minotaur is a giant naked human with just a bulls head. I imagine it wielding a clever and it'll run randomly throughout the labyrinth until it encounters a player, but as it gets near them like say in a different hallway I'll give the description that you hear what sounds like feet rapidly hitting a wet pavement.

For 5th edition DnD I am having one of the halls have a doppelganger, so if a player dies to that, they'll have to play as the doppleganger and not tell the rest. There's one entrance into the labyrinth, however the entrance is magic so they'll each spawn in 4 different locations with only one group of 2 spawning together within the labyrinth.

For each players turn in having them physically sit in different rooms so that way no one can meta game if someone is a doppleganger or any other curse like lycanthropy

The two things I like to do in IKEA are accelerating my cart every time I run over an arrow, and screeching out the names of the products black metal style

I just had an amazing idea. Lets go around IKEAs and do a podcast video in their show rooms. Record the public while we talking some scary space or whatever controversial you want to push for...this could be an idea for a YouTube channel.
Whos in?

The only 2 I've thought of off the top of my dome are kinda silly. I might post those, lemme think.

I’m not sure I’d call it strange, but I’ve developed a real fascination with cosmic voids and supervoids—those enormous underdense regions that make up most of the universe’s large‑scale structure. They’re exactly what the name implies: vast expanses where the matter density drops far below the cosmic mean, leaving behind only a sparse scattering of galaxies.

And we’re not observing them from afar, we’re inside one. The Milky Way sits near the center of the KBC Void, a roughly billion‑light‑year‑wide underdensity, and right along the boundary of the even more rarefied Local Void. Our galaxy is effectively perched on the interface between two enormous regions of low matter density.

It’s fascinating, but there’s something eerie about it too. We’re living on the edge of a cosmic hollow, surrounded by structures so large they challenge intuition. That combination of scale, physics, and emptiness is exactly what pulls me in.

I try not to think about space because it gives me anxiety precisely because it's beyond understanding in scale 🤣

I've done two escape rooms. One was trying to escape a haunted house the other was trying to escape after being abducted by a serial killer lol

There's an escape room near me that's actually documented as really haunted you have sign a waiver saying if you remove anything from there and something follows you it's not their fault 🤣

I feel like ikea and my ex at the same time would be like some fever dream lol
