I have threads but never use it. Have FB and insta though haven't posted anything on insta in a year. Also have SC but only use it to talk to some folks but never send snaps or check it for stories. Just tired.

No snapchat, no twitter.

I have a discord, but I haven't been on it for over 2yrs. Instagram been deactivated for about a year. I have a Facebook but I deactivate it half the time, use it to look up events mostly. I s**t post lol. I have like 3 friends on it. Only one of those people I see in real life. I had a normal Facebook for over a decade with friends & family, but I deleted it, like 4-5yrs ago. I generally hate social media. It's really not good for us, & it's over used.

I mostly use the internet for research, music, movies/entertainment, but I still love my hard copy books. Going to the library. I still have cds, & my old favourite box set DVD series. I can't seem to part with those, & using them sometimes. I have my buffy, angel, twin peaks, red dwarf, star trek box sets, & some movies. I just cant let go of, my old fav's. 😆

Just FB as a place holder and discord for my people. ADD MEH! lol But my fb states what i feel, i deleted everyone so everyone was equal. I cut myself off from a whole world, because drama and people can't all just get along lol.

And YT has a comment section you can ignore? lol i'd not class that as more than reddit lite.

Facebook, Discord, Snapchat, WhatsApp. I think that’s it. I’ve been thinking of deleting Facebook for a long time. I don’t actually have the app, I just use it on the browser. It’s stupid and I hate it.

I just have a Snapchat. I had an instagram for a long time, but it started giving me severe anxiety and I had to delete it. First I deleted then app, was just using it through the web page. Then I delete it all together

Facebook and insta some. I used to host a mastodon instance, but stopped paying for the vm years ago.

@Operation: Those software's were never secure. Whatsapp is owned by Facebook now. They're not protecting user data for anything or anyone. The encryption was largely backdoored from the start. Signal or Element are better options if you actually want encrypted communication. For Element, host your own server though.

Briar used to be solid, but appears abandoned now as there are 0 commits to the github repo. There's also Tox, which appears pretty dead these days too but less dead than Briar.

@Jay: You aren't wrong. Most of the other alt social media sites aren't any better.

i have accounts with too many social media sites because i am desperately trying to market myself which just leaves me feeling stupid & pointless.
i tried bluesky & it was just a bunch of people re-posting other people.
i quit facebook because it always made me cry.
i have instagram but it is to the point where i just go on to check out publishers & other zine makers.
linkedin. goodreads. wordpress. medium. masoden. mewe. (but i don't really do much on any of them except wp where i have a website for my art & writing) i feel like i use social media like a message in a bottle or a type of beacon....
& it just all leaves me feeling empty.
i hate social media...but i'm too stupid (or desperate) to quit.

I have FB like most people, I have Snapchat and like most people don't really use it other than to take silly pics. Lol I have Instagram and don't really post. But I love seeing inspirational weight loss journies. I have Tiktok, and it really is a good platform for business and to make extra money if you are a influencer. 2,200 plus people have jobs because of tiktok.... There is unfortunately a ban coming up and it's going to be devastating for a lot of people because that's their income.

Some say it's for privacy issues which is funny because the platform was used by the same politicians to pan titckock to promote their campaigns. Of course there is no issue as long as it benefits them. Might as well ban Facebook and Google. Too...

A lot of people think it's because of influences outside the main stream media. Plus Israel lobbyists. Infact Israel and the United States said that spending 30 minutes on ticktock makes people 17% more likely to become antisemitic. Because tiktok supposedly has more ads for Palatine than Israel.... Of course tiktok denied it. As a tiktok user I've seen ads for Israel. And more actual violence being comited by Israeli army. Even seen a video of a Israeli police shoot a Orthodox Jewish man in the head for protesting for the Palestinian people. I've seen Israeli soldiers boast on ticktock of them killing Palestinians even if them peeing on a Dead woman's personal things.... Gosh I can't even add in all the horrible things Israel people but up... Radical Israeli's and netanyahu don't really try to hide it much....

Israel wiped out 3 percent of Gazas Christians and I've had to point that out to Christians in my own personal life because I'm so tired of people justifying any acts of inhumanity...

I know the danger of people knowing too much about you, if its not obsessive stalking it's getting hacked or your account cloned.

I don't have any social medias, well besides this if you wanna call it that. There's more research coming out now that shows the negative impact it has on your mental health. Even if it doesn't negatively impact you, there's still an addiction aspect to it and the constant comparing/contrasting. I was using it from 12-23 and felt indoctrinated to use it as a social contingency. Now at 24, I ain't using that s**t ever again.

I want to download all the photos I posted to Facebook and then delete the thing. It’s a drain on my time and focus in the same way Instagram was. The difficult thing is how to maintain contact with the people I’m in touch with there. Given, I only have like 140 Facebook “friends,” most of whom I know in real life although we’re separated by large geographical distances.

Honestly, I miss the days when FB showed posts from people I actually know on my timeline. All it is now is 95% recommended pages posting crap I couldn't care less about. Meta ruined their platforms hardcore, and most other platforms were never worth a damn to begin with.
