Face tattoos

What is everyone’s opinion on face tattoos? I have them and I personally love them. I feel like as long as they’re of good quality then they’re alright. I always hate seeing someone with face tattoos that are really bad quality. I feel like most people on this site are open minded. Let me know!

Face tattoos can be a problem for some important things if you ask me. What about certain jobs you really want, but they don't accept face tattoos?

Cliche and overrated. Usually poorly done with little to no thought into the design or placement.

So, how people jugde you by having a face tattoo, you judge others because they aren't of good quality?

Meh....... Popular amongst skinhead's late 70's to early 90's. Almost got Anti Social on my forehead when I was younger....... My tattoos are old now. Not beautiful and perfect like the new generation. I like mine...... They are real, sincere and I earned em. Not a fashion statement but part of a underground subculture that will always be part of me.

Koos, that's the kind of conservative thinking I hate of the Netherlands (saying that because we're both living there) I never adjusted my way of dressing etc. because of a job, If they can't accept me because of my qualities because I don't look the way they want me to, their loss.
Also funny that having a sleeve tattoo is kinda accepted now but when it's on the face, it's seen as "criminal" and not done.

I don’t have to ask anyone’s opinion. I did to start a conversation..

Wait, you started a conversation about face tattoos, but then you're also saying you didn't have to, like you've done us a favour by bringing it up?

I personally find them tacky no matter how well they're done, but it's not my face, so each to their own

Aug 11, 2019 23:21

I think they look terrible. And they are permanent so you permanently have made getting a job difficult. Plus most face tattoos I see are gang tattoos no offense. A friend of mines boyfriend has head tattoos that are racist from his stay in prison and they make him getting a job nearly impossible since there is no covering them up.

Sorry for that jumbled mess I'm at work and am using talk-to-text.

I wasn't talking about the conservative side of face tattoos or dressing differently. I mean some jobs require a certain representation. Like covering piercings and earrings for hygiene rules. At my job, we wear long sleeved shirts because of hygiene rules.

Like Lisa said, a face tattoo is hard to cover when required a certain representation.

I don't see an issue? I mean i see for instance tattoo artists with them all over, 90% of the time they look f**king awesome suit them. Sometimes you see people get face tattoos to make money, which for a time worked out.

I think we're TOLD to stigmatize them, Oh you can't get that job now you have a face tatt... OH you have a tat on your arm.. NO job for you.. "I love how people all go down this route" Oh s**t face tat... NAZI!

But sometimes i see them, like this one guy i knew called CJ who went from normal wrapper to having a whole alien face hugger on his head and numbers on his face... "yep"

With some jobs I can totally understand you need to wear or not wear something for hygiene rules and it depends on the employer how they want their staff to be represented.
Like I said.. years ago it was not accepted to have any (sleeve) tattoo's , now it is because luckily some people didn't give a damn if they liked it themselves and bosses hire you not just because the way how you look.

I always love that about Berlin, tattooed people all over and working everywhere.

Migiヽ(^0^)ノ

Aug 12, 2019 00:21

Tattoos are largely accepted in Iowa not face ones though if you can't cover it up you it becomes a hiring isssue. I have multiple arm and leg tats but non that I can't cover if needed

Sean P.

Aug 12, 2019 00:21

This idea that everyone needs to accept everything is laughable. I am heavily tattooed. I am also blue collar guy. Trucking / Construction.......Alot of bikers, ex cons, the occasional skin all around working class riff raff and it goes with the territory. I would NOT hire a attorney with a face tattoo. I would NOT be comfortable with a doctor that has a face tattoo. And Mike Tyson looks like a complete jackass with that tribal s.h.i.t. on his face.......

Luckily their are differerent opions.
What if you had to choose between a tatooed doctor that could save your life or someone that isn't tattooed, not as qualified and chances are you won't survive?

Pics or it didn't happen migi

Also i can GET why people in certain industries are a bit oh no no no when it comes to tats but then some people need to get over it themselves.. Oh that tattooed man is a criminal.. Oh that woman has a mark on her face STRUMPET!

But like all things we need to get used to them, people are slow on the uptake..

Sean P.

Aug 12, 2019 01:14

Not for me either. I've rarely seen a decent fine lined tattoo, theu often look like they were drawn on with a wax crayon
I understand employers shouldn't judge from them but they say you're a rebel who doesnt like rules.

They’re not for me, personally. I see them fairly often on tattoo artists. Never quite understood that impulse, seems like it would be a very painful place to get a tattoo and would cause people to look at you funny, judge you, and/or stare at you for the rest of your life. I often forget I have two full sleeves because tattoos in general are so ubiquitous now, but I’d have to deal with the consequences of a facial tattoo every single day.

reminds me of the time I saw a guy with an enochian sigillum tatted on his forehead; by the time I got the nerve to message him to ask about it he'd been deleted. So, my opinion: it's up to you, inkedup....your first impression though is that you're in a gang.

I'm still amazed by some of the reactions from some people on this site, maybe it should be called "Altscene, alternative but with limits"

No Photo

Deleted User

Aug 13, 2019 20:57

So because it's Altscene you have to automatically like everything that's considered "alternative"?

No Photo

Unless you're talking about the Hooligan episode...then carry on...

No Photo

Deleted User

Aug 13, 2019 20:59

I'm not saying that, but you would think with a name as altscene generally people are more open to some things?

No Photo

Deleted User

Aug 13, 2019 21:06

Well if you elongate the site...Alternative Scene...the scene part generally denotes things that are scene, as in popular, plus from what I read, some people were pretty practical in the reasoning for disliking them or why they're not a good idea.

Plus if people don't like something, that's their right really...although we may dislike their reasons for going "I don't like that"

Well you're basing your opinion on people not being open to things based on one dislike, in this instance facial tattoos? Seems a bit extreme.

Sean P.

Aug 13, 2019 21:07

Just because you are alternative doesn't mean you are obligated to approve of, co-sign, or endorse every retarded fad that comes down the pike. Example, face tattoos.

Aug 13, 2019 21:07

I don't say this often or at all...but for once I agree with Sean. Miracles do happen.

"Well you're basing your opinion on people not being open to things based on one dislike, in this instance facial tattoos? Seems a bit extreme"
Uhm nope, I was basing it on more posts and reactions , hence the "I'm still amazed"
Also, where did I say people can't have a opinion?

KnottyScruffbag

Aug 13, 2019 21:20

Are people supposed to always feel the same way about things that they did when they were 17? Maybe people grow up and realise there's some truth to what their granny was saying.

Anyway, I just made a general crack about how awful old wrinkly tattoos look. People are free to get whatever tattoos they want on their face and others are free to think them silly, and that it's a bit rum to whinge about "discrimination" (boohoo) because dream job doesn't want the MS13 look when they knew very well that would be the case.

I'd probably avoid hiring anyone under the age of 60 with a face tattoo these days, as the probability of them being a Guardian columnist level hipster defender of the righteous is just too great.

Queen Bitch

Aug 13, 2019 21:21

I think they look good on some people, not so good on others... If you want face tattoos, I'm all for it, but people will all have their own opinions about them. I don't agree with the companies who refuse to employ people because of tattoos or whatever, but sadly, it could impact upon you in such a way and the world is what it is...

No Photo

Deleted User

Aug 13, 2019 21:23

I'm not sure what you're basing your opinion on though?!

YOU'RE ALTERNATIVE, YOU HAVE TO LIKE EVERYTHING AND IF YOU DON'T YOU'RE ALTERNATIVE WITH LIMITS!

Interesting take.

So basically when people state their dislike of something that's considered taboo or weird or alternative, you pop up like a whack-a-mole to go "and you kids call yourself Alternative, but you don't like this part of being alternative"

I didn't say you said people cannot have an opinion?

Your comment seems more for the lols or an attempt at being witty? Unless I'm missing the boat here?

I'd be interested in seeing you explain your opinion on why you posted that, but then go "I'm not saying people cannot have opinions" while deriding them for giving an opinion on something they dislike?

No Photo

Deleted User

Aug 13, 2019 22:05

My comment wasn't for the lols or an attempt to being witty at all.
I'm just amazed how some people can react because it doesn't suit the "scene" not saying people can't have their opinion, can't disagree with or don't like it.
But making others ridiculous cause of that is something I don't think is needed?

I'm not trying to be snobbish telling people what is "alternative" or not but yes I have to admit that it's odd for me to see that there are limits on how things are accepted by some.

And excuse me if I didn't elaborated it well enough for you?

No Photo

Deleted User

Aug 13, 2019 22:09

That's fair enough now that you've explained how you meant it.

Not sure why you need me to excuse you. You are allowed your opinion after all I just wanted you to explain your opinion is greater detail

Well you'll probably find that some people like s**t that would make you go "well that's a bit intense"

Everyone has limits, some just have their limits set low because that's what makes them comfortable.

Also how dare you wear black in your profile pic...satanist! Heathen!

Sean P.

Aug 13, 2019 22:58

Further more....... There is nothing alternative about tattoos in 2019. It is literally popular mainstream culture. Hood rats, pop stars and everyone pathetically and desperately attempting to emulate them. Causing a scene and demanding to be recognized as unique, special and soooooooo edgy all the while accusing anyone who doesn't embrace whatever special brand of mental illness. Harken back to the days when punkers would literally get their heads caved in by cops, jocks and various forms of the cool kids. Outcasts, Misfits, greasers, sailors, convicts, punkers, skinhead's, bikers......... All members of societies fringe. Now, society is desperately trying to pass off this outsiders culture as it's own.

Aug 13, 2019 23:19

Yeah Sean, I get you're from a time that things were still "real"
I don't know how it was in Boston but I'm a few years older than you and a lot of my friends in The Netherlands were misfits, greasers, bikers, punks, skinheads etc. all trying to be so called different and judging others because they weren't "real" enough because they didn't drink beer, didn't follow the sex pistols fashion, didn't kick against politics enough, didn't live in a squatted building etc.
You should see them now in a suit and tie living in a suburb with a white fence around it and still judging others.... They weren't cool, just followers. But hey, each their own.

OG":Your comment seems more for the lols or an attempt at being witty? Unless I'm missing the boat here?"

You should try it sometime then maybe all that longwinded ramble you write would be more Bearable.
I agree with Fayde; however, in this case, the gang style tattoos means the person is gonna get stopped by the cops all the time or possibly even shot at in the parking lot by gangs; correct me if I'm wrong. And I don't think employment isn't that big an issue, the industrial world is still open to him. He wouldn't be happy in corporate weenie world anyway.

Attempt at wordplay adding able to Bearable...I'm surprised you were able to think of something that clever since most of the time it seems you comment things that come across like a drunken idiot typing and attempting to be funny, while being the only one laughing at her own witticisms.

Personally, when I see facial tattoos I assume the person is a violent and aggressive so I steer clear. I'm sure that isn't the case, but it does seem really threatening. I like the aesthetic of some though, like maori or celtic swirls; but I prefer it painted to tattooed. For example the band Omnia, they paint designs on their faces for onstage which I find really appealing.
If you're unfamiliar with Omnia, they are a Pagan folk band. You can see their facial art in this video.
