I am a 56 year old original punk living in the Surrey area south of London from the mid 70,s until the late 90's! The best bands I saw from 1979 up to 1984 were as follows - the Ramones at Hammersmith Odeon in 1980, previous to that in March 1979, Lena Lovich formally on Stiff Records being the first gig that I went to at Guildford, Surrey civic hall, my school friends band from Fetcham near Leatherhead Surrey who played just one gig ever named Sarcasm!. Then finally in December local punk / new wave band called The Head who releases a single called Nothing To Do In A Town Like Leatherhead! A true minor classic if ever there was one!, which was played by John Peel on radio two obviously.1980 onwards others I saw particually in the post punk era were 999, Stiff Little Fingers, Souxie and the Banchess Theatre Of Hate, Bauhaus, Southern Death Cult, the Damned a fair few times, and amonst a few others at the time my all time favs who started in 1974 and were more prop rock influenced The Stranglers!, with No More Heroes my very favourite track of the era and my first album of the era the legendery first Stranglers albumn Rattus Norvegicus!!
