I go by Jona. It feels more approachable, more light—and I think that sums up my approach to life pretty well. To me, being "alternative" isn't about shock value or fitting into a specific subculture. It's about taking the time to find what actually interests me, even if it's not the mainstream thing. It's intentional living.
I'm a corporate analyst for a liquor distributor by day—so people aren't usually shocked to discover I'm a bit of a nerdy punk. But the real me comes out in the details: the drawings I'm always working on, the chaotic-but-sharp style I put together, the music that's been the through line of my life.
Speaking of music: David Bowie fundamentally shaped how I see the world. Queens of the Stone Age have been with me since I was young. Lately, I've been deep in IDLES, SOFT PLAY, Fontaines D.C., Mannequin Pussy, Viagra Boys, Bob Vylan, and Dinosaur Pile-up. Polyphia recently cracked open the metal genre for me in a whole new way. I live in the punk/post-punk world, but I'm not beholden to any one genre—good music is good music.
When I'm not lost in a playlist, you can find me:
Getting lost in a Godzilla movie or diving deep into dark fantasy
Out for hot-pot or a giant bowl of pho on a gloomy day (the ultimate comfort ritual)
Meditating or reading—small rituals that keep me grounded
Watching dumb reality TV, but only if I'm allowed to provide commentary
Plotting my next tattoo (I have many, and I want many more)
What I'm Looking For:
I'm looking for someone honest, genuine, kind, and compassionate. Someone who wants to explore all that this existence has to offer—the loud shows and the quiet mornings, the deep conversations and the comfortable silences.
To me, connection lives in the small things: holding hands on a walk, a gentle rub on the arm or shoulder after time apart, a big hug when you get home, a small smile when your eyes meet across the room.
So tell me: what movie always makes you cry? I want to know what moves you.
