Is it dead in here or is it just me....

Yeah, definitely me!

I get it, I'm old. Doesn't mean I'm finished though. I'm looking for like minded or tolerably minded friends on here, in a perfect world, I’d prefer a forever thing but legit not holding my breath on any of it. As a quick sub note, I'm not used to texting, please be patient with me.

I'm going to pre-apologize for writing an ebook instead of a profile, I was stuck in a cold, desolate airport for many predawn hours with little to do beyond fitfully and uncomfortably sleep, think, and write. On the upside, you'll kill some time reading. Enjoy the babble-typing, sarcasm, and dark humor.

I don't typically send messages first even if I'd like to chat, so feel free to message if you're so inclined.

I'm a low key goth, in a Germanic Celtic heritage way. I'm 5ft 9in tall, pale blue eyes, auburn and silver hair when it's not dyed. I'm fairly active but currently a bit fluffy, consider it a work in progress.

I'm not too girly in my natural state, but can clean up well and look it. Honestly, I'm not putting makeup on to go to the hardware store or mow the lawn. Also, it helps with my work to not look girly. So if you see me kitted out, just know that I can change a transmission filter and use power tools among other traditionally masculine things. I used to strip cars and sell parts on eBay, legally...mostly.

I'm a strange mix of introverted extrovert, though I do enjoy going out its just...not by myself. I have more fun going out with friends or a partner, then I'll need a recharge. I'm a serial snuggler, drama free, and don't play head games. I loath drama and head games.

I'm really easy going (except with the usual deal breakers.... don't abuse me (or others, especially kids and animals), don't cheat on me, and don't lie to me). I am bi, I don't have a girlfriend, I'm not looking for a girlfriend, but I'm sure as hell going to enjoy looking. If you happen to be in a poly relationship, be upfront.

I don't do drugs but 420 friendly.

Work: I used to work at an inbound call center for way too long, then as a vet tech, and ran an animal rehab sanctuary for 12 years. I still sort of do vet/sanctuary, just with my own pets and any strays that wander by. I do volunteer on animal rescues (usually only the really gross hoarder types, i.e. hazmat suit required. No, I'm not kidding), and did educational events on critters for kids before covid. For now, I do many “jobs" to cover the bills…tutor basic computer skills and fix hardware/software problems, build computers, do taxes, edit documents online, flip travel trailers/rvs, and clean/organize homes and home businesses.

Food/drink: I've often been asked by men if I can cook. I always want to ask them if they can build a house. Yes, I can cook, and bake, and make candy, from scratch. As an example of how far “from scratch" can go, I make corned beef from raw brisket (i.e. it isn't the slimy crap you buy at the store, I corn briskets). I also make salsa by gallons, and can foods (think Ball jars). A few of my signature dishes are lasagna, marinara sauce, leek/ham and potato soup, and the “I heard you were sick" chicken soup. I also make killer sandwiches, even in the back of a moving rv or riding shotgun on vacation. I'm skilled at cooking on electric, gas, lp, random burning stumps, numerous sorts of itty bitty hiking heat sources, coal, and solar. I’m a social drinker, the happy drunk. I brew black currant mead, I also enjoy higher end whiskey, cognac, and tequila. I don't drink alone.

Movies/TV: horror, sci fi, zombies, movies and shorts, such as c**kneys vs Zombies, Cornetto trilogy, Aliens, independent and/or international flicks. Daywatch, Night**tch, Harry Potter, Marvel, Dreamkeeper, Skins, Red, Star wars, Star Trek, Velvet Goldmine. Anime… Trinity Blood, Hellsing, Fruits Basket, Devil is a Part Timer, Durarara. Dr Who (I’ve watched since #3, though #4 is “my doctor “, Sara Jane is my fav companion), Loki, Vikings, Farscape, Forever Knight, Lexx, Babylon 5 (the first syndicated cgi show, on Amega Video Toaster no less, will readily admit the story arc sucked).

YouTube: dash cam videos are a guilty pleasure, particularly Ukrainian simply because I can play “spot the Lada". Paranormal and glitch in the matrix narrators. SCP narrators.

Music: everything from Bach to Slayer, including international music, minus the bulk of pop, pop country and pop rap (I will ligit pull the fuse on a stereo system if I'm forced to listen to it). More often than not, I find myself listening to the alternative music of my youth, the 70s to 90s. Mind you, the area I grew up in called alt folks “Mods" and we were stuck listening to music on AM radio and waiting for 120 Minutes on MTV. ~sigh~ Good times… Brief list of fav genres…Celtic and Scandinavian folk music, international metal and alt. Groups…Longpigs, Catherine Wheel, Peter Murphy, Soul Coughing, Raconteurs, Filter, Madden, Love and Rockets, Gin Blossoms, Garbage, Verve, New Order, Matthew Sweet, Mazzy Star, Bravery, Ra Ra Riot, Smashing Pumpkins, Avicii, Smoke, Replacements, GBH, Gorillaz, Rave-ups, Placebo, Fever Ray, Depeche Mode, Social Distortion, Iggy Pop, INXS, Bosstones, Sioux, Cult, Cure, Smiths, Rancid, Misfits, Rush, Cranberries, Simple Minds, Pixies, James, Travis, Charlatans, Dodgy, Liz Phair, Lightning Seeds, Beautiful South, Flogging Molly, Ozone, Heidevolk, etc, I'll be here hours more if I keep listing.

Literature: Writers…Isaac Asimov and Douglas Addams. Books… Kitchen Confidential, Eddas, Harry Potter series, Stranger in a Strange Land, Splinter of the Mind's Eye (which would have made a better Star Wars sequel), Dr Who books that don't have 8 being a f*ckwit.
Religion: Asatru, with a touch of Omnist. My heritage is Germanic and Celtic, and many ancient tales and traditions managed to trickle quietly down the generations. I've carried this faith for my teen and adult life, i.e. I don't believe what I believe because of the Viking series or 13th Warrior. I’m ordained and preside over heathen weddings and bindings.

Pets: I have cats and ducks. I've been looking for a dog, I tend to adopt them from elderly gentlemen who can't keep them, so I end up with bomb proof, go anywhere dogs. Duck eggs are delicious by the way. I've had dogs, chickens, rats, chinchillas, degu, rabbits, mini goats, geese, and guinea pigs, not all at the same time. It's sort of a mini farm here. There's a tractor. It's older than I am.

Hobbies: I enjoy writing fan fic and shorts, music, reading, crocheting clothing and blankets, sewing, quilting, restoring antique tools and axe heads, repairing antique furniture, gardening, DIY, camping, learning. Sharpening blades is my ultimate relaxation.

Random talents: I’m a bit of a survivalist, because I've done without and refuse to ever again. I'm the holder of, at minimum, 150 years of functional old school family knowledge relating to living without things you'd consider modern. Everything from making soap, to preserving food; running a self-contained farm, to building with whatever nature offers; gathering food, to making cloth from animal fibers. I'm your girl for the apocalypse (a real apocalypse, not a toilet paper apocalypse). I have about 5 months of food (for two) and enough seeds stored to start a good sized farm. Strangely enough, I can still do modern things and be self sufficient…plumbing, electrical, building to code, wrenching on vehicles, fix large and small appliances, etc. Also pro gun. I have guns. No, I haven’t shot anyone. Yes, I have shot food critters, and I have pointed a gun at a person (an escaped convict who rightly decided it wasn't in his best interests to be on my property).

Miscellaneous: my first car was a 1965 Chevy Corvair, it's sitting in my backyard, I'm eventually going to restore her. Second car was a 240DL Volvo station wagon, it was the best drift car, EVER. Then I had a litany of V8s…86 Crown Vic, 79 Magnum, 69 Coronet, 71 Charger. Worst cars I've owned, 98 Intrepid and 78 Monte Carlo. I currently drive a midsize SUV simply because it keeps me out of trouble with the authorities, carries stuff, is economical, has the 4.0 notorious for longevity when properly maintained, and easily tows my smaller trailers. I borrow/rent bigger trucks for work reasons. I can pretty much drive anything with 4 or more wheels that doesn’t have a double stick.

I own my property/home/vehicles outright, they function perfectly as intended, I have my own income and tools I didn't pilfer during a break up, so I'm not terribly likely to ask for help. I require nothing more of you than positive attention and/or affection. (However, not interested in being a sugar mama) I own property in Southern Illinois and rural SE Arizona (home base), I also travel to Phoenix at least once a month. Distance isn't an issue with me, I literally have to drive 35 miles to find a wally world. I've probably driven near 4 million miles (500,000+ on the Volvo alone), I also have a passport, and can manage airports. I've lived in a big city, metro, and rural, I prefer rural.

As added perks:

-I have no criminal record and have only been arrested once, underage, for loitering. I was chained to a parking meter in protest of a grossly unethical animal testing facility at the time, 10/10 no regrets, would do again.

-I have never had a restraining order placed against me

-I have never been on, nor needed to be on, any anti-psychotic medication

-I do not talk as much as I write. I'd rather listen and learn. (This doesn't apply if you've given me alcohol, and is therefore your own damn fault)

If you’re interested in a relationship, I do have two adult offspring and I can no longer reproduce nor do I want to (so no baby-maybes). I do enjoy other people's offspring, so it's not a deal breaker if you have kids. Or grandkids. I'm fine with age gaps of 10ish years either way, and I have no issue with dating or befriending guys shorter than me.

In the friend zone, I’ve been told I give really good advice. Not your typical mom advice, I give practical life advice. If I can save anyone from going through what I've been, or at least make it easier for them, I'm all for it.

Feel free to ask whatever
