Just tentatively looking around the site for the time being. I went through a breakup recently so not quite ready yet for dating, just seeing who is out there for now. On here as my friends have pushed me to try it, although it would be wrong to start until I am properly over the breakup; for myself, but also as it would be unfair to anybody new. I am romantically monogamous with a strong moral code, which has the perk of me having never cheated on anybody, but breakups seem to affect me for longer than most. I always prefer to be open and honest, even if that may be an odd detail for a dating profile. I may let social anxiety win and wimp out from pursuing dating further anyway tbh (so anybody expecting me to be meeting up any time soon will inevitably be disappointed sorry). But if so I will hopefully make a few friends on here at least. Not sure how often I’ll be on here so apologies if I am slow to respond. I am only saying all this so nobody ends up feeling personally rejected, although I am sure me being too honest on here will quite reasonably put most people off anyway.
I have a thirteen-year old son who lives with me part of the week, who is a very chilled out and sweet kid. I am not expecting any future girlfriend to be a parent to him, just to ideally be his friend.
I am an introvert (INFJ) who is prone to social anxiety, but will happily babble excessively with people I am comfortable with (and write long messages too; this is honestly me trying to be brief here lol). Being an overthinking insomniac, I am often sleep deprived too annoyingly. My hearing is terrible so if you find having to repeat yourself often or watching films with subtitles to be irritating, I am definitely not the guy for you. Do love a good gig or festival despite the bad hearing; haven’t been to any in a while though and want to rectify that at some point! I am not the most exciting guy ever, but I think I am good company, funny, empathetic and caring once I am comfortable with somebody, assuming you can handle the excessive babbling of course 😊 .
I adore reading, have an English lit degree, and occasionally dabble with writing stories and poems when the mood takes me. I am also an avid foodie, and enjoy cooking; pizza has a special place in my heart though (likely clogging up a few arteries). I love a wide variety of movies, tv shows, and music too (especially metal of course); the range of my favourites is quite large though so I will add some relevant examples to this soon once I can shorten the list down a bit. I have just started learning guitar, and starting a fitness regime to get myself back in shape again also (let myself go a lot during the lockdown tbh).
Shared interests are nice, but a shared sense of humour, values, empathy and reciprocal emotional honesty are the most important things to me.
