I'm a software developer who got into tech as a way to pay the bills until I figured out how to make a creative career for myself, but the tech career wound up taking over my life.
I'm a nerd, but only grudgingly, because I didn't have the fashion sense to be a hipster/scenester.
I got into punk music by accident, as I was a super shy kid who thought people with mohawks were scary, and still love it as an elderly millennial who refuses to admit it's a dead genre. My music tastes are always broadening, but punk will forever hold a particularly special place in my heart.
I have pretty diverse taste in music, movies, hobbies, etc. I tend to be largely interested in finding obscure gems and interesting creative people doing something I haven't seen a thousand times.
In terms of hobbies, I tend to regularly engage in a lot more active hobbies when I have a friend or partner to do them with. I'm asthmatic, which limits what activities I can do, but for the most part that only effects me with running. I'm good for hiking, kayaking, ice skating, volleyball, etc. I love a good outdoor festival concert. Left to my own devices, I can be more of a slouch, especially if I'm dealing with a lot at work or with home maintenance.
Re: less active hobbies, I'm really trying to do less of those since I already stuck in front of a computer everyday for work, but I like movies, reading, games, binge-watching, the usual stuff. In terms of going out places, I like live concerts, zoos, museums, parks. I also have some more ambitious hobbies, like learning a language, getting really good at drawing, and working on one of the many personal creative projects I've started and never finished. Those are subject to the same up/down cycle as my more active hobbies. I do have a bad habit of moving on to a new passion before properly giving the previous one the time it deserves. I also really like bar trivia, which, unlike this website has, actually gotten me dates.
I have 2 cats, they suck but I love them.
