Hello and Welcome to all the Lovely Ladies of Altscene!
A Little About Me:
I am a 47 year old Gothic D.O.J. (Disciple of Jigsaw!) who lives in California. In the looks department I guess I’m not that hideous. I actually look OK for my age. I’m a white male, about 6’ and 185 lbs (No mid-life beer belly!). Jet Black Hair & Hazel Eyes. I keep my hair short in a kind of spiky Joker doo, (Sorry Long Hair Lovers-hey, at least I still have all of it!), and never wear a beard. (Ditto the regret to all the Beardies out there I'm afraid.) And yes, I always dress in Black.
I’m an accredited voice-over artist, and even have my own IMDb page! No, I’m nobody famous and have yet to voice a Disney job. But there’s always tomorrow and I have a done some video games! In any event, acting is a feast or famine career so I also work a secondary retail job to supplement my income. I’ve been with the same company, off & on, for about 14 years now. And acting and dark thoughts seems to run in the family as I am a distant relative of the late actress, Peg Entwistle-who famously jumped from the ‘H’ of the Hollywood(land) Sign in 1932!
I have One Son who’s going to be 14 soon. He’s a real good kid who wants to be like his Dad, right down to wearing the Black, decorating his room to look like a cross between Spencer’s Gifts & Hot Topic and loving the same horror flicks and video games!
I’m also the Proud Parent of many cats. Many, many cats…You’ve heard of the Catwoman? Well, I’m the Catman. Lol I have 8 cats, all but 1 of whom were neighborhood strays until I rescued them. But I’m also a general animal lover and do like dogs, puppies and all other sorts of friendly creatures too.
I am a Wiccan. I’ve been one since I was 16. I was born on November 22nd, a Scorpittarius, which means I have empathic abilities, an eccentric personality and can have a mercurial nature. I’ve had prophetic dreams all my life, known how a person is feeling just by looking at them, know who’s calling on the phone before it rings, all that stuff. When I was 19 years old I had what could best be described as an extreme paranormal incident that happened to me in an abandoned asylum in Ohio. After that my whole life view on a great many subjects changed.
I’m a Horror Guy! Think I may have mentioned that. I love horror films and old cult type films. I have an especial love of Zombies, (Saw Romero’s Dawn of the Dead at the drive-in in Orange, CA when it came out when I was a like 7…Damn I feel older than dirt now.), although I gave up on Walking Dead a few seasons back.
Growing up I use to love the slasher flicks of the 80s like Friday the the 13th, My Bloody Valentine and Prom Night; but in 2004 I saw James Wan & Leigh Wannell’s Saw for the first time and have become a diehard converted Disciple of Jigsaw ever since. I have 100s of horror-entertainment related stories I like to tell and a bunch of Horror / Goth/ Punk themed crap kicking around my office/ recording studio. People I’ve met, cons I’ve been to, things like that.
On the cult movie thing, I’m a big fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Have been for literally decades. At one point I was a fan club rep and co-director for a shadow cast that performed out of the Montclair Plaza Cinemas-when all that was still there. It’s long gone now. I’m also probably one of the few people around who’s read a complete version of the original script for the sequel, Shock Treatment. (That was the direct sequel version were Frank came back to life and Janet had his baby!)
I also like horror video games, own a PS4 and am quite good at them for being the old man that I am. I can’t wait for the Resident Evil 2 Remake to come out! Besides the Resident Evil series I also enjoyed ALIEN-Isolation, The Evil Within 1&2, Friday the 13th-The Game (Played the original F13 game by LJN on the Nintendo waaaay back when, too!), Dying Light, and on & on.
Music-wise my tastes run the gambit and I’m very eclectic. It depends on my mood. Obviously Goth/ Old School Punk/ Industrial; I’ve got some musicians/ bands listed on the side for the curious. Once upon a time in another life I was a musician in a San Diego punk band called ‘Sons of the Gestapo’ as the bassist/ writer. My tastes have definitely mellowed with age though, if not having become a bit schizo. One minute I might be listening to Police Truck by Dead Kennedys, the next Nina’s 99 Luftballons and then the Bee Gees’ Night Fever. I also have a deep love for old 1970s/1980s style synth horror film scores. Like those of John Carpenter, Goblin, Rick Wakeman or Tangerine Dream.
I love to read both fiction and non-fiction. And, as you can tell, I like to write. I write all my own content for my website I maintain for my voice business. Among my favorite authors are Lovecraft, Bloch, Matheson, King, Straub and F. Paul Wilson. One of the more interesting nonfiction books I’ve been reading of late is “Modern Esoteric: Beyond Our Senses” by Brad Olsen. Here’s an excerpt from that book that I found fascinating:
“Before you judge others or claim an absolute truth, consider that you can see less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum and hear less than 1% of the acoustic spectrum. As you read this you are traveling at 220 klm per second across the galaxy. 90% of the cells in your body carry their own microbial DNA and are not even 'you'. The atoms in your body are 99.99999999999999999% empty space and none of them are the atoms you were born with - and they have all originated in the depths of a star. Human beings have 46 chromosomes, 2 less than the common potato”
Speaking of potatoes, you can also find me in a kitchen as I love to cook. I’ve been doing it since my Grandma taught me how after catching me watching a cooking show on PBS (The Frugal Gourmet!) when I was little and offering to teach me herself. I have this natural adeptness for Italian food especially. I’ll send pics of my creations if you’d like. For the holiday I made an Italian Cherry Cheesecake Torte, substituting the cream cheese for mascarpone cheese at a 60:40 ratio.
There are also two final things about myself you should understand. First, I am a demisexual. I cannot feel comfortable sexually with someone unless I have developed a deep, emotional romantic bond with them. So obviously I’m looking more for someone to get to know as a friend first and then allow things to grow and progress into a more deeper, personal relationship. And because of my sexuality and Gothy nature there are times I can come off as aloof and ambivalent. It’s just me, I’ve been told I “think too much”. I guess you could say I’m looking for the right fit there.
Second, I don’t drink alcohol. At all. That has been known to unfortunately be a deal-breaker in the past with prospective mates. Now I am 420 friendly (Medical/ Pain-Related Reasons from a motorcycle accident in my teens) and have a major coffee addiction still. So I’m not a total stiff. And I don’t mind other people drinking around me as long as they don’t turn into a jabbering, crying fool or get all grabby. That’s when I bail.
As far age, location and all of that jazz I have no preconceived notions. If you think we may be a good fit, come as you are and send me a message. I do have a thing for redheads and ladies with short hair/ bob haircuts and Bettie Page bangs, due to the fact that I’ve had a crush on Little Nell since I was 13.
Anyways I always hate doing introductions to new people because there are a 1001 things I’d like to add but at the same time don’t wish to turn this into some self aggrandizing novella. Just know that, as my favorite horror movie character likes say, if you choose to get to know me and I start explaining more in detail things about my past, present and person, the pieces of the puzzle will all fall into place and everything will become clear. And if you’ve found while reading my intro that you think we may have some things in common please don’t hesitate to send a reply because…I Want to Play a Game…
