Hello! I am Kyle, alt-rock drummer extraordinaire with a penchant for both kinetic and nerdy things. I hope to get to chat and make friends, even if for the foreseeable future it’s just online (especially given COVID these days). If I find a relationship, great, but I message for talking/possible friendship first and foremost. If there’s one thing I’ve really picked up on over the years of being in an online community for a game (Marathon by Bungie Software), it’s that bonds can happen even with those bounds — and I’ve met 3 of those people in person multiple times! (See photos for pictures of our meetups). They all now live in the same city as me too. It’s great.
Anyway, often I get up to odd shenanigans around town or in rehearsal spaces with my crew I found through music/volunteering/games (or at least that’s what I did before COVID shutdowns); but I write text and compose on synth keyboard pretty prolifically, I feel like I could run outside all day, and I’m generally pretty curious about lots of things. Overall I don’t fit into any particular idiom, I just have a somewhat unusual range of interests and tend to feel at home in “alt” circles. So I might not technically be emo, but probably emo-adjacent/sympathetic (I definite like a lot of the aesthetics). :3
That’s part of why I lean heavily on my creative work — it’s an effective and healthy outlet for that in a way that doesn’t bother others and lets me stay my usual stoic self the rest of the time, ha ha. Being a sap and artistic type go hand in hand anyway.

It’s probably obvious by now that I’m pretty musical.
I make my own stuff (with occasional collaborators) that’s like hard avant-prog on Casios/MIDI, because that’s my favorite type of stuff. I’ve drummed in a handful of bands in my day, usually of the hard alt/grunge rock variety, and have gotten to play live and record professionally a few times. Getting to create and jam it out with comrades, joke around and laugh between songs (especially in a garage), and finally get to share the fruits of all that with a crowd is one of the greatest things. Plus I actually enjoy running/lifting, and drumming combines physicality and creativity.I’m actually probably a writer first, though. It’s my profession and how I’ve been able to make sense of the world, break down things that seems complex, and find a way to communicate them. I never run out of things to write about.
I’m not really into substances, I just have a little drink occasionally. I sometimes think of just ditching that too, but in any case I don’t mind whether someone is into substances or is straight edge — I’ve gotten along with all kinds. Just don’t pawn my things for drugs, or I’ll get real sad. Parties at my house would basically be like a kid’s, though — video games, pizza, yardsports, late night talking, and spraying each other with the garden hose.
I really like games a lot. My wheelhouse is classic FPS (mainly Marathon by Bungie of Halo fame, but also games like Doom, Unreal, and Quake), but I also like a lot of strategy and a few RPG’s. I’m open to all sorts if people want to show them to me. Mario Party is always great during parties and social gatherings, though.
Though I’m technically not an active anime-watcher, I’m partial to it in large part because I have friends who are into it and introduced me to everything from the deep, dark, and conceptual (Steins:Gate and Code Geass come to mind) to the purely ridiculous or comically bad (ever heard of Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan? Holy s**te…) Again, I’m open to recommendations!
I’ve had a budding interest in esoteric/occult matters, though I don’t follow a specific creed. I’ve just long been drawn to the patterns or essence of things, or the world beyond appearances. I’m also becoming more interested in philosophy and politics (on an intuitive level I’m socially left and tend not to trust institutions or authority very much, but I’m still trying to educate myself more on details). This has kind of dovetailed with an increasing interest in community stuff (usually food/shelter/arts related), where I’ve met some pretty awesome and insightful people. World house now, I say.
