Disclaimer: If you're into hikes or working out, I am (most likely) not the droid you are looking for.
I am an avid reader first and foremost. I absolutely love to get lost inside of stories and experience the beauty of the words as they unfold on the page, as well learn about other cultures and time periods. I feel that reading has made me a much more caring and empathetic person, too.
I'd definitely say that I peaked socially in middle school (those were the days!), but I made it all the way through college, and I currently work in the education field. It's very rewarding because I love to help others and pass on what knowledge I possess to others.
Though I have an atypical dislike for labels, I am an introvert and a leftist. One can almost always find me with my head buried in a book, and I do my utmost to respect others because, after all, we're all just doing our best to survive! I also love engaging in intellectual conversations with my fellow humans. Ours is a beautiful and mysterious universe, and there's just so much out there; I want to know everything about everything!
I would also say that I possess an affinity for the weirder and more alternative aspects of life, and it shows in my tastes and several of my life choices that I have made so far. I love writing (both poetry and prose), all things art, traveling, walks around Tempe (it's a great way to get some thinking done), language, museums, space, history, mythology, geometry, the occult, chess, hockey, and gnosticism. It may appear that I take life too seriously, or that I have a strange fascination with the darker side of life (and, okay, maybe I do!), but...
Humor is also something that I could never do without. It's just so infectious, and it's always lovely to see someone turn a frown into a smile. My own humor, I am told, is very dry, and I like to make macabre jokes as well as use my acerbic wit.
Essentially, I am an upbeat Hamlet.
Other thoughts:
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
I truly subscribe to the above quote, and I very much desire to surround myself with people who share this philosophy.
