I am new to the Goth thing, but to be truthful, with Trump about to be in office, the grim outlook to many things in our world and my lack of success otherwise in dating, and the fact that I love the Goth look on ladies, with the black lipstick, heavy eye shadow, etc.- the right way for me to go may be to embrace the darkness with a Goth lady, and therefore find my way to a new, different kind of light.
