Yep, I've got longish hair, in case that's going to send you running away screaming or, worse, chasing me with scissors. To clear up a few apparently common presumptions that seem to attach to my chosen hairstyle - no, I'm not a musician, I don't own a Harley (and wouldn't - if I get a bike, it'll be a crotch rocket), have never had a drug or alcohol dependency and don't have a police record (aside from some parking tickets in college and the occasional speeding ticket). On to the details - I work to live, not the reverse. I've got the basics covered - a car, a job, and a house. Having a job that I'd gladly do as a hobby would be awesome, but I don't, and I'm okay with that. I don't have a lot of acquaintances, but I have some great friends. I have zero interest in organized religion (I'm a recovering Catholic) or political arguments about which party is right - if you're a big fan of either, please move along, nothing to see here. I can be both introvert and extrovert, but the introvert occasionally needs some alone time, so if a relationship means spending every moment together, we're probably not a good match. I love a good amusement park and I'm a big fan of chocolate. Love to get away, be it just a weekend get-away or something more involved. I firmly believe that grammar does count. I think I'd like someone who takes their health seriously but still likes hot wings and skydiving. Sports. In my world, there are three. Two that I will happily go see live - football and hockey. And an additional one that I'll watch occasionally - golf. Yes, golf. I respect your right to enjoy baseball, ice skating, basketball or what-have-you or to be unable to care less about sports as long as you return the favor. If you are the sort of sports fan that won't leave the house while the game is on or won't leave town over a weekend during the season, we're probably not a good match - basically, I enjoy watching a good game, but not when I can be doing something active elsewhere. I like to read anything I come across from Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, James A. Owen, James Burke and books about ancient history, anthropology and archaeology and pretty much whatever else catches my eye. My TV viewing time is limited and my Tivo is generally busy - mostly Discovery, Science, Travel, History and Animal Planet. Mythbusters, Xploration Earth and Battlebots are current favorites, although I've been thinking about cutting the cord recently. I can enjoy just about any kind of music, aside from rap and old-time twangy country ("There's a tear in my beer" didn't make it into my mp3 collection). I've got a relatively bad addiction to 80s music. If I looked hard enough, I probably even have a cassingle around here somewhere. Good live jazz and/or blues is great. So is a good Irish band, especially if there's a Guinness or two involved, but I'll never turn down solid classic Rock 'n Roll. I don't like coffee or sushi. I do like a chocolate milkshake and the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, not necessarily at the same time, but I'm open. I think anyone can be a good kisser if given the proper inspiration. I have no issues with piercings or ink, but I was given all necessary holes at birth (no post-natal piercings). No ink for me thus far, but that's more a lack of inspiration than lack of interest. I do have an issue with people who don't put their shopping cart in the cart return. "Patch Adams" was a good movie, but a far better idea. So was "Dave", for that matter. I have an English degree, but work with computers for a living. And my computer occasionally corrects my English. Yosemite National Park is possibly the most beautiful place on earth, but I haven't been to Egypt, Greece or Australia yet (among others - anyone for an African safari or a drive around Iceland?), so the jury is still way out. Oh, I have a pet dragon and, no, she's not imaginary.

You - don't be just like me. That would be a wee bit on the boring side, and, let's face it, might drive us both nuts.. Don't be perfect. Trying to be better is at least half the fun. Have a personality all your own, have your own style, your own ideas, etc. Be someone that I'll need to learn about before we can ever hope to complete each others sentences. I want the team effort, 50/50 relationship - I want someone who has a life to share, not someone who needs a life and wants to try mine on for size.
