Mission statement: Passionate about life, family, friends. I have many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews that I adore and love spending time with. Exciting career in wildlife biology/aquatic ecology that takes me all over. Diverse interests, very active, easily entertained. I love being with people and laughing as much as possible. My work and lifestyle provide that I am very physically active: in addition to climbing mountains, crashing through brush, etc. for work, I like to run and play outside as much as possible. I also love a good night of c**ktails and beer from time to time. Life should be very diverse with a good balance of health and fun.
Background: Recently completed my Masters thesis and currently finishing several research projects/papers. Lived for many years in the American West (Montana, California, Washington, Alaska, Wyoming). However, my family is in Ohio and I am currently working hard to be here permanently so I can spend as much time in Northside as possible, with dreams of chickens running through my urban backyard. In the beginning, I went to high school on an art scholarship, started undergrad in architecture, moved into wildlife management, then spent many years as a wildland firefighter, emergency medical technician, wilderness ranger, forestry technician, ski patroller, and spent a significant amount of time travelling, mountain-climbing, snowboarding (obsession alert!), developing amazing friendships around the world, and just exploring life and the natural beauty of the physical environment. I finally found that ecological research was the career that satisfied my many curiosities and kept me at an excellent level of happy. And it is a perfect mix of technical finesse and hard, physical, dirty work (because I like to come home filthy).
Skills: I’m really good at practicing the art of humility. Correspondingly, it seems that I’m good at making use of oxymorons. I spend a lot of time thinking about gravitational singularities and The Real Housewives of Orange County. I tend to avoid whatever phenomena cause a day in the life to be typical.
Moving beyond this somewhat truthful yet sarcastic narcissism, here are several things that I would struggle living without: Family, Friends, Laughter, Meaningful conversation, Adventure, Passionate spontaneity. Additionally, I don’t have a predetermined idealized match: I tend to be fascinated by a diversity of human characteristics and personalities, although I do appreciate self-awareness, generosity, perseverance, candor (with consideration), sincerity, and some ball busting humor. While I am a mix of extrovert and introvert (a bit heavy on the extro), I have enjoyed myself with both. It has been said that I am very adaptable and could find enjoyment or wonder in almost any situation.
And finally, the creation museum is stupid. That is all. Hope to hear from you!
